Dear friends and customers,

http://tinyurl.com/qd4a2mk

It is with a great sadness that I have to announce that I am forced to leave SecondLife.

Some times ago, I wanted to cash out some money coming from my store on my paypal account. A small amount: 280$. LindenLab has already my identity through my paypal account which is a verified account, with a verified bank account and a verified cell phone number, the same paypal account that I have used for years. They opened a case anyway on the support website to get more information about me, and I have 30 days to comply otherwise my account will be suspended (the 21th of July I guess).

Where is the problem: I could provide the additional information. The additional information is: a copy of an identity card or of a passport (with all confidential numbers you can imagine on it), a photo and my address and my phone number. (That's all ?!). It is a lot of information for only 280$. Even Amazon does not know so much about me: only my personal address and the last single-use credit card (I only use single-use electronic credit cards or prepaid credit cards on the Internet). Am I ready to risk an identity theft by disclosing such sensitive information to an unsecured site which is regularly hacked for that small amount of money ? No I am not. They also proposed me to send the scanned documents to a website called NetVerify. I tried the private URL proposed and I read the message "MaximumIDScan attempts have been exceeded". It is very strange because that was the first time I was visiting this website... And what is NetVerify by the way ? You know them ?

So what ? I could cancel this payout request, spend this money in SecondLife and everything would be back in order. That does not seem to be possible: a payout process cannot be cancelled. I really wonder why: I am sure that the soviet administration was more flexible than the LindenLab administration.

Since I don't have the choice, I will do the dirty job myself: I cancel the account "Dahlia Orfan".

I just want to say that I learned a lot of things by scripting and that was an interesting experience. I wish you a lot of good things for your first and second life. Do not trash your toys. They will keep working. However, the update server will not work anymore. Remember this blog to get information about them. I don't know yet whether I will transfer my work to another avatar. All scripts and all textures written/built for my work are safely backed up. Nothing is lost. Maybe I will resurrect at least partially the store.

Ultraslim Relay 1.1.7 (new release and warning)

  • The version 1.1.7 of the ultraslim relay is released. Unless the hardcore mode is chosen, the wearer can switch between ask and auto mode just by turning off the relay: the sequence is off-->auto-->off-->ask-->off-->auto etc... I made this change because in some sim, some people seem to be really unable to emote and using ask mode is not an option unfortunately :-(.
  • With the new release of Firestorm, I could not get the configuration menu anymore: the fix consists of 1) going in Preferences / Network and Cache and check "Built-in browser" as usual of course, 2)  going in Preferences / Privacy and clic the button "Clear History", then relog and everything will run fine.

A bunch of updates

The changes are minor but may be useful to some people.
  • The Ultraslim Relay 1.1.6: @acceptpermission is now accepted again.
  • Dahlia's multirelay 2.3: @acceptpermission accepted again and different symbols used for checked/unchecked boxes and you can add/remove avatars from the trust list by using their UUID key.
  • Dahlia's Owner Remote 5.2: Different symbols used for checked/unchecked boxes. Beware of the fact that if you made your own menus, you will have to change the corresponding notecards with the rules "☐" becomes "□" and "☑" becomes "■". Please use copy-paste, the old empty square "☐" is not the new empty square "□" !
